Super pink moon

During a video call with Micah and his speech therapist today there was much commotion in the living room. Ezra came running in to show me a big smile with a gap of pride in his mouth. He had pulled out his first tooth all by himself! Childhood milestones keep happening at the normal rate even though it feels like the world has almost come to a standstill. // #ezrayuuto #boystownliving

Ezra really has been living his best life. He has all eight of his sisters home everyday. He gets to play his Nintendo Switch all the time. He plays with his toys. He goes outside with his brother. He explores the outdoors. Kindergarten might have been pretty much cancelled but I think he’s going to be ok. We were putting together a toy that he got for his birthday today and he told me, “Dad, this is the best day of my life.” What a time to be alive. // #ezrayuuto #boystownliving

Have you ever been so sick or experienced grief so deeply that you wished the world would just come to a halt? Well, that's in some ways what has happened over these last 21 days or so while Sarah has been sick and out of work. But today she returns to work, much to the joy of all our girls and our two boys, and perhaps especially me. Sickness wears on both our physical self and our emotional self. Being an extrovert who loves spending time with others, she's been isolated and lonely. This time has been hard. But today she comes out from her isolation, much like the daffodils out behind our home faithfully rising to announce life and health in the midst of a worldwide pandemic. Sarah has the words "Practice Resurrection" tattooed on the side of her arm. After being sick for so long, those words might feel more like an admonition than a meaningful encouragement or reminder. But today, on her 31st birthday, she walked out to a house that has been decorated (without my prompting) by our girls. They all wrote her birthday cards as well. And when they got up this morning, day nine of quarantine here at Boys Town, they were overjoyed to see her. "She is clothed with strength and beauty; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 'Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.'" Happy birthday, Sarah!

Sarah’s sick this weekend so these two kiddos have been having to entertain themselves more this weekend while I work with the girls. Ezra was proud of how dapper he looked this morning after he picked out his outfit and Micah is loving his new shoes. // #micahandezra #boystownliving
